EVENT MANAGER

European Gay Ski Week, a celebrated annual event with a legacy spanning 17 years, is seeking a dynamic Event Manager. Held annually during the 3rd or 4th week of March in the French Alps, European Gay Ski Week is the biggest Gay Ski Week to take place in Europe and the only roaming gay ski week in the world.

An entrepreneurial mindset and fluency in French and English is essential, experience in events and or travel management is advantageous

If you embody a gay-friendly, outgoing demeanour, possess a passion for events, travel and winter sports, and boast an in-depth understanding of the LGBTQI+ community, along with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, this role may be tailor-made for you.

The Role: As the Event Manager, you will oversee the entire event process, from inception to execution, leading the EGSW team and conducting post-event assessments.

While your typical work hours align with standard office times, closer to and during the event, your involvement will be hands-on 24/7 including evenings and weekends.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Research and secure resorts, venues, suppliers, and contractors, negotiating contracts and fees.
  • Develop comprehensive event plans, encompassing timelines, venues, staffing, budgets, and legal obligations.
  • Promote and publicize the event, ensuring effective engagement with the target audience and accurate messaging.
  • Coordinate suppliers and manage all event logistics, including venue, catering, and travel arrangements.
  • Oversee pre-event arrangements, including booking performers, DJs, and dancers
  • Supervise a team of staff, providing thorough briefings and guidance.
  • Address client inquiries and troubleshoot issues during the event to ensure seamless execution within budgetary constraints.
  • Arrange necessary facilities such as parking, security, first aid, and media amenities.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health, and safety regulations.
  • Efficiently manage event dismantling, venue clearance, and removal processes.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to glean insights for future endeavors.
  • Explore opportunities for acquiring new clients and developing innovative events.
MOUNTAIN MANAGER - VOLUNTEER

European Gay Ski week is looking for a Mountain Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring our ski-related activities run smoothly, providing an exceptional experience for our guests on the slopes and in the mountain restaurants.

The Role: This is a volunteer position which will involve 2.5 – 3 weeks free skiing (including during the week of the event) each year. Whilst there will be no renumeration for this position your travel (Flights within Europe), transfers, accommodation, lift pass, breakfast, dinner and a per diem for lunch will be provided.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the coordination and management of all ski hosts, ski & snowboard classes, off piste groups and private lessons. Manage / facilitate on the day bookings where possible.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of ski classes and hosting services, making improvements as necessary.
  • Managing the European Gay Ski Week Ski and snowboard hosts. In advance and onsite.
  • Ensuring that all participants have signed up for the hosted groups, are of the required level and if not, are moved to the ski school. Check numbers in Hosted groups ensuring no more than 14 per group.
  • Ensure that the self-service groups are going to the correct lunchtime meeting points and that the gourmet groups are going to restaurants with whom partner agreement have been made,
  • Manage relationships with mountain restaurants ensuring that our clients are being given the discounts agreed to coordinate on mountain events and lunchtime meeting points, including the scheduling of our front of house staff to host the events and meeting points.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise on the slopes or in the mountain restaurants, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for skiing, minimum ability – Expert, able to ski anywhere on the mountain with confidence regardless of conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Fluency in French and English is essential; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
  • Previous experience in customer service / hospitality.

SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNITY MANAGER 

We are excited to announce an opening for a creative and dynamic Social Community Manager to join our team for the European Gay Ski Week. 

The Role: It is designed for someone who excels in online engagement and is passionate about creating a vibrant and inclusive digital community.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to promote European Gay Ski Week across all major platforms.
  • Create, curate, and manage engaging content that resonates with our diverse audience.
  • Monitor social media channels, responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and positive manner.
  • Foster an online community by encouraging interaction, discussion, and engagement among followers.
  • Analyze social media metrics to assess the success of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and event teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Coordinate live social media coverage during events, including live-tweeting, Instagram stories, and Facebook live sessions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep our strategies fresh and effective.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in social media management, community management, or a similar role.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to create compelling content.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) and social media management tools.
  • Fluency in French and English is essential; additional languages are a plus.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and design.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret social media metrics and drive continuous improvement.
