Driving to Tignes:

If you are travelling to Tignes from within Europe, driving is undoubtedly the simplest method of getting there. France's autoroutes are not too busy around the end of March and the A430 autoroute ends within 80km of Tignes and even when the weather is bad the road up to the resort is normally passable. It is essential even in March to bring snow chains in case of heavy snowfalls.

Once in Tignes there is plenty of parking available.

In Tignes Les Brevieres, there is free parking available and a free transfer bus up to Tignes Val Claret. Be aware on Saturdays the bus service finishes in the afternoon. 

If you wish to park in Val Claret there is plenty of parking both covered and open air however all the parking in Tignes Val Claret is chargeable.

If you are Flying

The main airports that serve Tignes are Geneva & Lyon. However the closest airport is Chambery followed by Grenoble .

 

Transfers:

To and from Geneva Airport

The European Gay Ski Week transfer service is €35.00 each way. 

Saturday 20th March - Departing Geneva Airport (Swiss side) promptly at 16.00. If you are using our transfer service please ensure that you have allowed sufficient time to collect your bags, pass through customs and get to the Transfer Coach (The European Gay Ski Week does not accept any responsibility for people missing the transfer coach).

Saturday 27th March - Departing Tignes Val Claret (outside the Schuss & Slalom residences) at 11.00. If you are using this service the European Gay Ski Week recommends that you do not book a flight where the check in closes before 16.00.  (The European Gay Ski Week does not accept any responsibility for guests who miss their flights due to the late arrival at Geneva Airport of the transfer coach).
Altibus also operates a transfer service between Tignes and Geneva.  ALTIBUS BOOKING  

For transfers to and from Lyon Airport / Tignes
use Satobus.

By Train:

If you are travelling by train the TGV network goes into Bourg St Maurice and from there you can get a taxi or a transfer coach up to Tignes.

By Coach:

If you are travelling by coach and you cannot find a coach that goes directly to Tignes you need to travel to Bourg St Maurice coach station which is next to the train station then get a transfer from there up to Tignes

With all transfer methods please bear in mind the following:

  • Schedule - There are only a 3 - 6 buses a day to/from the airports and a few more to Bourg St Maurice. Check the timetables and make sure you allow enough time to get through customs on your way out and on your return journey, for checking in once you are at the airport / train station / car hire.
  • Drop-off and pick-up - The bus will drop you at and collect you from a central point in Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Le Claret & Tignes Le Lavachet, not at your accommodation so make sure you alight in the right in the correct centre for your accommodation.
  • Lateness - The bus will not wait either in resort or at the airport/ train station, waiting on the next one could mean a long wait or even missing your flight or train.

Flying:

Train from the UK:

With the Eurostar and the TGV if you leave on Friday 20th March and travel overnight then catch the transfer bus from Bourg St Maurice you can arrive in Tignes in time to Ski all day on Saturday 21st giving you an extra day skiing.

There are two ways to book, you can book your entire journey via the Eurostar site or book the legs separately using the Eurostar site to book to Paris then the SNCF site to book your journey to Bourg St Maurice. If you book the legs of the journey separately, depending upon availability, it is possible to save up to £100 on the basic £235 fares offered by Eurostar. Coach from the UK: £99.00 return:

Snow Express has a service leaving Victoria Coach station on Friday 19th March at 19.00 which arrives in Tignes - Val Claret early afternoon on the 20th March and returns, departing from Tignes at 16.00 on the 27th March arriving in London Victoria Coach station at 09.15 on the 28th March. The European Gay Ski Week has a special discounted fare of £99.00 available for all passholders.

Driving from the UK:

With the tunnel and the ferries it is remarkably easy to get across the channel. Once in France it should take around 9 hours to drive the 615 miles to Tignes from Calais if you are using the autoroutes. If you want to avoid the toll roads, get an early crossing arriving in Calais by 7am and you should still be able to drive the 675 miles and arrive in Tignes by around 8pm.  return fares on the ferries start at approx £60.00 for a car with 4 passengers. The toll charges are around €50 each way.
